The substances contained in the leaves give a sweet taste, have no energy value and are up to 250 times sweeter than sugar . The stevia leaves also contain proteins, fiber, carbohydrates, iron, phosphorus, calcium, potassium, sodium, magnesium, zinc and vitamins A and C.
